We have added three new one-day workshops to our “From the Ground Up” training in Milwaukee.

Engaging Youth in Farm Programming:
Saturday, April 9, 2016
Location: 5500 W. Silver Springs Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53218
Cost: $150.00, includes lunch and dinner
Time: 10am – 5pm

Growing Power engages over 400 young people annually in farm
programming throughout Chicago and Milwaukee. Come learn
best practices for creating a year-round program that includes
youth in farm production, curriculum development and community
engagement.

Intro to Dismantling Racism through the Food System:
Friday, May 20, 2016
Location: 13111 W Silver Spring Drive, Butler WI
Cost: $150.00, includes lunch and dinner
Time: 10am – 5pm

An understanding of dismantling racism principles is critical to the success of any urban agriculture project. This workshop will introduce a framework to better understand how racism manifests on an individual, cultural and institutional level and provide space to reflect upon ways to create projects that empower low-income and communities of color through sustainable and local agriculture.
*May workshop does not include farm tour

GAP Certification for Urban Farms:
Saturday, June 25, 2016
Location: 5500 W. Silver Springs Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53218
Cost: $150.00, includes lunch and dinner
Time: 10am – 5pm

If you’re looking to scale up production and expand your markets in the future, GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) certification will be a requirement for many wholesale and institutional contracts. This workshop will share best practices for GAP certification and compliance, how to create logs and forms that work for your farm, and introduce the auditing process.
