Taking a tour of our Community Food Center and Urban Farm in Milwaukee or of one of our urban farm sites in Chicago is a great way to learn about Growing Power.
Public tours are offered Monday-Sunday at 1:00pm and are open to the public. If you plan to attend with a group larger than 10 people, please inquire about a private tour for a separate time, Tuesday - Saturday
There will NOT be tours on the following dates: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Thanksgiving , Saturday Dec. 7 (due to fundraiser) and Christmas
During 2014 Workshops: January 17-19 , February 14-16, March 21-23, April 25-27, May 16-18, June 20-22
Once a month, the regular tour will be replaced by the "Talk and Tour" dates with our CEO Will Allen, and the cost will be $20 instead of $10. See below for "Talk and Tour" dates.
A tour of the urban farm in Milwaukee takes approximately 1 ½ hours. During the tour you will see our growing methods hard at work; including worms eating waste, fish fertilizing plants, and honeybees pollinating the neighborhood. Public tours occur everyday at 1:00pm. The tour fee is $10.00 per person. For groups of ten or more people, please call or email to schedule a private time other than 1:00pm. Groups larger than 30 people may have to be split for space considerations.
Our farmer, founder and CEO Will Allen often gets requests to do tours, so we decided to make it a monthly date! For $20, you can get a tour of the farm on Silver Spring Drive from the man who knows it better than anyone else. It's a great opportunity to talk urban agriculture with one of the world's leading experts in the field. After the tour, bring your copy of his book "The Good Food Revolution: Growing Healthy Food, People and Communities" or buy a copy at the farm store, and he'll sign it for you. We're also selling "Farmer Will Allen and the Growing Table", a children's book written all about his journey! So come meet Mr. Allen, talk urban ag and enjoy the farm!
Upcoming Talk and Tour dates: Saturday, March 29th at Noon. Please RSVP as we expect this date to fill up quickly!
