Taking a tour of our Community Food Center and Urban Farm in Milwaukee or of one of our urban farm sites in Chicago is a great way to learn about Growing Power.  

In Milwaukee:

Public tours are offered Monday-Sunday at 1:00pm and are open to the public. If you plan to attend with a group larger than 10 people, please inquire about a private tour for a separate time, Tuesday - Saturday

There will NOT be tours on the following dates:

During 2012/2013 Holidays : January 1, November 24, December 25

During 2013 Workshops: January 11-13 , February 15-17, March 15-17, April 19-21, May 17-19, June 15-16

A tour of the urban farm in Milwaukee takes approximately 1 ˝ hours.  During the tour you will see our growing methods hard at work; including worms eating waste, fish fertilizing plants, and honeybees pollinating the neighborhood. Public tours occur everyday at 1:00pm. The tour fee is $10.00 per person. For groups of ten or more people, please call or email to schedule a private time other than 1:00pm. Groups larger than 30 people may have to be split for space considerations.

In Chicago:

We grow in the heart of the city and on a vacant asphalt basketball court.  Come see how we do it.  A suggested donation of $10.00 per person is appreciated.

 

Tours:

Tours are currently available in Chicago at Iron Street Urban Farm. Tours of Chicago Lights Urban Farm begin again in the spring. Iron Street Urban Farm occupies a formerly abandoned, 7-acre industrial building on the Chicago River. We grow veggies, soil, and food justice year-round while hosting Youth Corps, workshops, and community events.

Tours at Iron Street Urban Farm occur at 1pm on Tuesdays at Thursdays, as well as on Saturdays at 10am and 1pm. There is a $10 fee per person for tours. Please RSVP to erica.hougland@growingpower.org with your name, contact phone number, and the size of the group. To schedule a tour outside of regular hours, please email erica.hougland@growingpower.org.

Tours are NOT available during workshop weekends in 2013, due to professional development: January 11-13 , February 15-17, March 15-17, April 19-21, May 17-19, June 15-16
